How will I know when I have received a quote? You will be notified by e-mail every time you receive a quote. When received, quotes are instantly posted to “View Request History” on your personal home page.
What is the role of a "Broker?" A broker is a person who facilitates the buying and selling of air ambulance services. Most brokers are tied to preferential networks which pay them commissions based on the price of your contract. These commissions can often contribute to the large disparity in pricing that may be seen from one air ambulance to another.
What is important in selecting a provider? Assistance companies or medical professionals who buy air ambulance flights on a regular basis typically choose the provider who is best qualified to carry out a mission based on medical competence/staffing, aviation company/aircraft safety record and then considerations such as price, number of fuel/tech stops, convenience for the passenger/family etc.
Is there information available on the qualifications and credentials of an air ambulance provider? A provider’s profile is provided as part of every quote. Each time a provider responds to a quote they are asked to update their profile to ensure it is accurate and up-to-date. AirAmbulanceBroker.com will remove any provider that has been complicit or grossly negligent in providing false information. Additionally, AirAmbulanceBroker.com features a customer satisfaction rating system based solely on air ambulance customer feedback. Over time, this system will help identify the best and poorest performing providers. It is important for you to complete the surveys during the quoting process. This will ensure your feedback contributes to the promotion of the best providers.
What do credentialing and audits have to do with selecting a provider? AirAmbulanceBroker.com provides links to aviation and medical credentialing organizations. All the organizations we provide links to adhere to a set of best practices for their membership companies. Many times, accreditation/certification from these organizations ensures independent verification of best practice compliance. Providers will indicate in their quote whether or not they subscribe to these organizations.
How does AirAmbulanceBroker.com make money? The air ambulance providers pay a nominal transaction fee when they provide you with a quote. There are no hidden charges, commissions, advertising fees etc.
Can I fly on the aircraft with the patient? There are many factors that an air ambulance operator must consider when taking additional passengers. Those may be the size of the aircraft, how many medical crews are traveling with the patient, how many people the aircraft is registered to carry, aircraft weight restrictions, how stable the patient is, the company’s policy etc. You can indicate if you wish to be a passenger when requesting a quote. However, it is best to limit the number of additional passengers when sending your request for a quote. Some times operators may elect not to respond if they cannot carry the amount of additional passengers you request. You should wait to discuss this with the provider. However, passengers in addition to the patient are absolutely necessary indicate the requirement when submitting your request for a quote.
What alternatives do I have to an Air Ambulance? If the patient has limited mobility but is stable, they may qualify for a medical escort on a commercial airline. We suggest you seek advice from a medical professional, talk to the prospective airline regarding their policies on medical accompaniment and/or assistance and your personal physician in your home state/country.
Can the price change after I get the quote? This is possible if there are changes to the requirements on which a quote was provided. As examples:
When do I pay for the Air Ambulance flight? If you are paying for the flight, you will likely be required to pay prior to the flight using a credit card, wire transfer or other means of financial guarantee.
What is a fair price for an Air Ambulance flight? Prices are typically between USD$20,000 and $100,000, but can go much higher. There can be a large disparity in the quotes received based on such factors as size/type of aircraft, proximity of the aircraft to the patient, qualifications of the medical crews (EG doctor versus nurse) etc. AirAmbulanceBroker.com allows you to compare like-for-like services which may help you determine why one company’s price differs from others.
How does the patient get from the hospital to the airport and vice versa? Those arrangements can be made by the air ambulance provider if it is a part of your overall request for services. Otherwise you will be responsible for making those arrangements.
What if I do not receive any quotes from providers? There is no way to guarantee providers will quote on your request. However, if you do not receive a response within four hours we suggest submitting a new request and consider reevaluating how quickly you require an evacuation and/or how many additional passengers you require. These two factors and aircraft availability have the greatest impact on whether a provider can respond to your request.

Once an air ambulance provider has been rated by five different users the site will display all of the provider’s ratings.
What if a satisfaction rating does not appear on the provider’s quote? We do not publish satisfaction ratings until we have a minimum of five client surveys to calculate the providers rating. We want to be fair to all parties ensuring that decisions are not based on ratings that were derived from isolated, unusually positive or negative incidents.
What is the importance of a medical director or medical direction? Medical direction through an aviation medicine physician or flight physician is important to ensure that the company abides by a recognized medical standard or best practice that is published, trained to, monitored and updated.
Is there a difference between contracted and employed medical crews? AirAmbulanceBroker.com recommends that in evaluating providers look closely at both the aircraft and medical standards. If you are considering a provider with a contracted crew be sure the company’s aircraft and medical standards are the same or better than that of a quote from a provider that employs the aircraft, medical crew and medical director.
What is an assistance company? An assistance company typically works with insurance companies and or corporations to manage the care and medical logistics associated with members or employees should they become ill or injured while living or traveling abroad If you are not a member or your travel insurance does not contract with an assistance company, many will still help you in coordinating an air ambulance, however, there will most likely be a percentage or flat fee added to the air ambulance price for their coordination activity. If you are not comfortable working directly with air ambulance companies, an assistance company can be a good solution.
